Sleeping Sisters... NOT!

Sister sleepover in the same room. Sounds like a good idea.
This is a FAKE shot. There is no sleeping going on here. Maren called me in three times to help get Sadie to stop singing and kicking and squishing and licking and kissing and spinning and flopping on her side. Sadie got moved to her room and so much for sleeping sisters together.
(Both girls are sleeping now- separately!)

Moving Day

We're movin' out!

Sadie won't be left behind.
( We couldn't find her, but luckily she was tucked away in the moving trailer with a princess book ready to be moved.)

Our old dog Marker hid in the moving van too, not to be missed.

Hmmm...

From Stalk to Cup

Rhubarb stalks...

...actually chilled glasses with salt.
RHUBARB MARGARITAS!
Yum-O!

Butterflies & Bellies

The Langlands brought butterflies to release after the hike. What a treat.

Tikkan and Sadie brought bellies to release.

First Hike: Mize Loop

First hike of the summer series: sunshine, good showing and lots of exercise!
Well done!
She ran and ran and ran and ran......

...except to stop and hold Jude's hand.

From Jogger to Cobbler

While walking through our neighborhood a neighbor asked if I would like some rhubarb plants. So, I harvested the monster rhubarb, put roots are in a wet tub in the backyard soon to be replanted and Maren and I made a strawberry rhubarb cobbler. Wait to you see what I do with the rest of the rhubarb...

The What's Flowering Challenge Series

Spent the evening hiking, running and bushwhacking the first in the "What's Flowering Challenge" Series- an off-shoot of the Thursday Night Epic. We botanized our way up along sheep and moose trails and I was thrilled to see all that is in bloom. The highlight of the evening may have been spotting the black-tailed deer in the distance. The flower and plant i.d. was pretty exciting too. Here is SOME of what we saw.

Dog violet
Viola adunca
Serviceberry

Some thing from the Mustard family

Through the Bubbles to Second Grade

In Maren's k/1 class, the kindies blow bubbles for the 1st graders to graduate onto second grade.
This comes after a morning of being served breakfast by their younger counterparts.

Sweet Sadie....Not!

Yup. Here's sweet little Sadie. Pretty blue eyes, sweet angelic face. Just precious.

Oh, what a shot! How sweet, she's smelling the tulips. Holding the flower ever so gently.

This is the real stinker- I mean Sadie. Hair twisting, standing where SHE wants to stand, nose wrinklin', scheming her next diabolical plot to madden her mother. Today, after I subdued her into the horizontal position to change her diaper she tells me,
"Mom, you are the worst turd."
NICE kid.

Maren's Organic Zucchinis

Maren & I planted organic zuchini seeds and Maren wanted to give the starts to both her teachers as gifts this year.
She even made little signs.

Coastal Hike & Play

Toddler hike along the coastal trail today to our new secret spot. We found a fort, a rusty shovel, some rope and plenty o' sticks!

Sadie ate TWO sandwiches.

Swim Lessons

Maren is taking swim lessons at our local high school. She LOVES her instructor and can't wait to get into the water. She thanks me every time we finish a lesson.

Sadie makes a lion cub "nest."
