The Blueberry Mobile!

The cartopper has returned!
Anne at http://www.cartopart.com/ ( you can see other views here and read more about Anne's business) created a colorful piece of art out of my rocketbox. She used wildflower/berry photos I took to create this LOVELY replication of an "Autumn Blueberry Bog." I absolutely love it! Now I get to talk it up and pass out her cards to anyone who asks. Won't be hard to spot me!

You Know It is Spring Break When...

...you have time to make strawberry rhubarb pie AND Sourcream Blueberry coffee cake and serve it for breakfast!

Into the Sun

Charlie and I hit Powerline Trail for a sunny run.

Bring on the sun!

Bluebird Ski Day

Down to Alyeska today for a beautiful day of skiing.

Sadie had her first chairlift ride...

...and skied between David legs.

We also met up with friends and had many fun runs up high in the sunshine.

Maren had an awesome day.

Terrrain Park

Maren and Sadie tried out the terrain park today.

See Sadie in pink with David.

Maren whizzes by and waves in blue.

Iditarod Action

This is truly one of my favorite days in Alaska- the Ceremonial Start of the Iditarod. The mushers ride right through the trail in our old neighborhood. We meet up with friends and cheer the mushers as they go by. The kids collect dog booties and other goodies thrown by the sled riders and at some point during the morning many of the kids become huskies themselves. It is a real community event and we get to meet up with many of the same folks we see every year.

Maren & Amei waving to a musher.

The Daily News publishes a listing of all the mushers and the order they will appear. We all follow along and cheers each musher by name. I happen to do A LOT of cheering. I get really jazzed and before I know it I am chanting and screaming and using my entire body to encourage mushers down the trail. I even cheered for a few random folks riding bikes down the trail. There is such great evergy along the trail as the mushers whiz by and as you can see our whole crowd REALLY got into the cheering. A few highlights of the day include catching two hats from the mushers, catching a few mushers eyes with my loud exuberance and most fun was singing "Rocky Top" to a rookie musher from Tennessee and seeing his eyes really light up. Fist pumping in the air he yelled, "Yea Tennessee!"
Safe travels mushers!

We found these lost sled dogs on the side of the trail...

... so we brought them home!

Meet Dilly

Maren and I finished sewing Dilly yesterday. She made her a little dress and one for herself to match.

Let's Rondy Baby!

Fur Rondy Fun in February on a chilly and very windy day.
You gotta wear a snowsuit and a face mask to the carnival in Alaska!

Sadie had to remove her face mask to eat her cotton candy.

Then for a little fun with ice...

The Artist Recycles

Maren took an ALL DAY recycled art class at school on Friday. This tin can cat actually has moveable, interchangeable, magetic body parts. I think she could have led the class.

Ready, Set, Make...

Picked up a new bookshelf and organized all things makeable.
Hmmmmm, what to make?

What I Learned in Gymnastics...

"Toe ankle"

Baby Gloves?

Maren & Sadie were quiet and busy for a long time this morning. I was surprised to find they had birthed 10 baby latex gloves-complete with names and beds and unique designs.

They were fed, read to and tucked into their cozy paper beds.
Sadie had the Boo family and Maren the Splotch family.

A proud mama.
I never know what they are going to come up with.
