On this lovely, lovely, LOVELY Alaskan summer day, our hiking crew hiked around Blueberry Hill. It was quite a thrill to be in the mountains on such a bright, sunny, blue sky day. It was great exercise for all of us. I found the challenge of uphill hiking more strenuous with the extra cargo in my belly. We saw tons of wildflowers, gorgeous views, butterflies and even a moose. There was much excitement at the end of our hike when a crowded parking lot full of people spotted a black bear not too far away. As the crowd ran towards the bear for a better view, Maren learned a valuable lesson about NEVER running towards a bear, even if it is pretty darn exciting to see! We kept back and waited until it climbed the hill to see. It was our closest encounter with a bear yet!
Up, up we go.
