Arctic Valley (Part Two): Ridge Run

After a lovely hike in Arctic Valley with the kids today, I snuck back up after dinner for a ridge run. I marched to the top of the first peak ( as seen here) and ran the ridges in a semicircle, down to a saddle, up Rendezvous Peak, and down to another saddle and then back up the ridge along the ski area. Ridge run: fun, fun, fun!

Summer Hike #3 : Arctic Valley (Part One)

The hiking crew hit Arctic Valley this week.

Rapids Camp Yurt

The family hiked 2 miles out to the Rapids Camp yurt at the Eagle River Nature Center for a solstice/father's day overnight.

Sadie didn't hike, she slept.

The girls loved the bunk beds.

David gave Maren a geology lesson.

Sadie did Ring-a-Round-the-Rosey 800 times.

We hiked out another few miles to Echo Bend on the river.

Sadie hiked.

We stayed up late, slept little, saw a mama grouse and four babies, 2 moose and listened to the noisy robins all night. Up by 5am and we hiked out by 8am! Quickie trip but tons-o-fun.

Birth Day

I turned 39 yesterday and had a wonderful day. Maren decorated cupcakes for me.

I hiked in the mountains with my girls and my friends.

We went to the chocolate lounge and I had a latte and a cocunut curry truffle.

Maren caught 6 catepillars for me.

The first organic veggie box arrived!

Summer Hike #2: Wild Horses in the Mountains

Our hike this week took us around Blueberry Hill where the kids mysteriously turned into wild horses...

...up the hill they ran and we could hear the whinnying in the distance.
