Hooray at Home

Maren's beloved bunny Hooray now resides in a shoebox on her bed. After two near disasters that involved losing Hooray temporarily, she decided it was best for him to stay at home. Hooray often accompanied Maren everywhere she went. She always knew where Hooray was, but lately her attention to his exact location was compromised by her interest in other things. After her new teacher, Ms. Marie, suggested a cozy shoebox bed with a buddy, Maren decided she could do first grade without him. She did make one request- that I take a picture of him and we stick it in her backpack. I will certainly oblige her request. Goodbye to Hooray today, she'll be driving a car tomorrow!

Our Prize Zucchini

We harvested our one zucchini from our backyard pot. Maren wanted to hold it and love it before I chopped it. It went on to make yummy zucchini bread, spicy veggie saute for salmon tacos and a hearty pasta primavera. Thanks for the plant Oona!

BERRIES

Let it be known that I love my husband, my children and my family, but berries bring me GREAT JOY. I picked almost 2 gallons of high bush cranberries and almost a gallon of low bush crans at our campsite this weekend. (I will not reveal my location.) I could barely sleep. These photos do no justice to the inner beauty of the berry. I am talking CLUMPS o' crans here people!

"This is the best day of my life"

Straight from the 6-year old horse's mouth! Maren spent the weekend fishing and DID NOT want to stop. This is the best day of my life! She had two best days in a row! Here she is chasing pinks down the creek (see splashing).

After catching 3 pinks, she passed her rod onto her sister and gave instructions.

Sadie is eager to learn.

Cheese!
I had a pretty fabulous day too!
