A Fairy Recipe by Maren

I found this in our camping bag from the weekend:
water
a drop of sugar water
flower petals ( roses will work)
vinegar
milk ( lots)
ice ( a block of it)
a berry ( any kind) no poison
some banana
lots of leaves
let it sit
Let us know how it turns out.

Almost to Russian Falls

Brrrrr...winter is coming.
Chilly hike up towards the falls, leaves dropping by the bucketful.

Charlie was a grouse-chasing machine.

Last Kenai River Float 2010

We took one last float down the Kenai this past weekend- Charlie's first raft ride. It was a beautiful, but chilly day and stinky, rotten salmon stench filled the air. Charlie did well after we got him to realize that the oars were NOT sticks to fetch.

He was very excited about the water, but pretty mellow in the raft.

We did a little trout fishing.

The sun was fabulous.

His First Grouse Hunt

Charlie and David are off to the Kenai for a grouse-hunting afternoon. Charlie was so excited to hop in the truck with David and then he switched over to his calm demeanor once in the truck. Charlie has been with us for just over a month and he seems to completely know how to be a part of our family. He is just calm and happy and loving and comfortable. It was hard for me to let him go for the night, but it will be a great reunion for us in the campground tomorrow morning when the girls and I catch up with the boys.

Roller Derby

Roller derby in the hood today, one cul-de-sac over.

Sadie tried out a variety of wheels.

Don't get any funny ideas Uncle Gerald.

"Cranberry Heaven"

Charlie leads the way to the cranberries, just behind our neighborhood.

"This is cranberry heaven!"

" Daddy and Maren are going to be so, so, so, so ,so , so, so, so, proud of us!"

Flowers in Fairbanks

I stopped here at the Georgeson Botanical Garden on an amazingly sunny day. I took 95 photos. There was so much to see and smell. It was glorious. The colors, the light, the textures...

I think this photo captures how happy I was.

Charlie & Piggy

Charlie got a buddy named Piggy.
