A New day, A New Friend

Meet Autumn- Maren's new summer friend she "made" today.
Maren is off reading her a book right now.

Beginnings and Endings

First day of K
Last Day of K

Last Day of Scoolle

I found this in Maren's backpack this morning. She said she drew it at school. Maren is to the right and Ms. Debbie is left. Maren is about to walk under the rainbow balloon arch and say goodbye.

Last Day of K

What a bittersweet day. It started with lots of fun- group projects, outside play and shirt signing- but as the day wore on I think both the kids and Ms. Debbie knew their time together was drawing to a close. I could feel the sadness in the room when I returned to get Maren.

Maren did not want anyone to sign her shirt except for Ms. Debbie. Ms. Debbie drew a heart over Maren's with her name in it and told Maren she would always be in her heart.
(Yeah, I cried.)

Monkey see, monkey do.

Find Sadie.

Ms. Debbie had the kids walk through a balloon arch after she sang a good bye song to each kid. She hugged them, handed them a certificate and sent them off to first grade. Sadie wanted to be a part of it too.

Maren DID NOT want to be a part of it. She clung to the table leg, hidden from Ms. Debbie's view, hoping she could stay in kindergarten. Each time Ms. Debbie called for Maren to walk through the arch, Maren shook her head, NO.

After all the kids had gone through, Maren relunctantly agreed to pose with Ms. Debbie under the arch. Tears filled Maren's eys, Ms. Debbie was crying and I was sobbing! We loved kindergarten and we are so proud of Maren. First grade is the next big adventure!

"I,I,I,I,I"

Yesterday was Maren's last day of kindergarten and the kids all wore the tye-dye t-shirts they made. When Sadie saw Maren's shirt, she grabbed it and yelled, "I,I,I,I!" So we dug out an oversized tye-dye of Maren's for Sadie to wear. Sadie thinks she is in kindergarten.

Maren's Kindie Celebration

Maren's K class celebrated the end of school with plant songs, butterfly poems and catepillar stories. We had a lovely BBQ and visited with our kindergarten family.

This is in front of Maren's school. She had no interest in posing with the cap and gown. I told her she could wait until she graduated high school.

Sadie's Playdate

Sadie and Eva had a ball on the trampoline.

New Backyard Fun!

We're in the trampoline business!

(Hopefully not the broken bone business!)

Trailer Trip 2

Trailer trip #2 turned into a day trip. After a series of mishaps- full campground, sick dog, sick truck, fussy, cranky toddler, no canoe on a lake system, parking lot campground- we ate dinner in the trailer, hopped in the truck, got an ice cream cone and headed home. We'll try again next weekend.

Sadie wanted to do her own thing. This involved me standing around watching her a lot until she was ready to move onto the next thing.

Lots of baby salmon under Maren's rod.

Sadie liked throwing rocks.

Maren caught two dollies and a trout!

Cookies Make Me Sleepy

Ladybug Release Party

Every spring we buy a bag of ladybugs and set them free in the yard. Maren is entertained for days- checking on them, recatching them and setting them free again.

Home Invader

"Sadie Boots"

Maren puts her boots on. Sadie's response- "Sadie boots, Sadie boots!"
(Are you picking up on the priority in our house?
WHATEVER MAREN IS DOING!)

Maren's Bike

Sadie stands next to it screaming, " Maren's bike" until someone holds her up on the seat.

First Camping Trip of the Season

We threw everything we thought we could use into the new travel trailer and drove to the campground at Hope. What a lovely campground! Of course the weather was amazing- a perfect weekend for tent camping! Who wanted to be in the trailer on such a lovely day?

She did a lot of laps!

No rubber boots necessary this weekend!

Sadie wanted a hat just like Maren.

Sadie swiped my Mother's Day ice cream.
