Last Day of K

What a bittersweet day. It started with lots of fun- group projects, outside play and shirt signing- but as the day wore on I think both the kids and Ms. Debbie knew their time together was drawing to a close. I could feel the sadness in the room when I returned to get Maren.

Maren did not want anyone to sign her shirt except for Ms. Debbie. Ms. Debbie drew a heart over Maren's with her name in it and told Maren she would always be in her heart.
(Yeah, I cried.)

Monkey see, monkey do.

Find Sadie.

Ms. Debbie had the kids walk through a balloon arch after she sang a good bye song to each kid. She hugged them, handed them a certificate and sent them off to first grade. Sadie wanted to be a part of it too.

Maren DID NOT want to be a part of it. She clung to the table leg, hidden from Ms. Debbie's view, hoping she could stay in kindergarten. Each time Ms. Debbie called for Maren to walk through the arch, Maren shook her head, NO.

After all the kids had gone through, Maren relunctantly agreed to pose with Ms. Debbie under the arch. Tears filled Maren's eys, Ms. Debbie was crying and I was sobbing! We loved kindergarten and we are so proud of Maren. First grade is the next big adventure!
