Horse Heaven

Maren found Horse Heaven today just across the road from our campground. After hearing a loud whinney come from nearby, David and Maren went off to investigate. Maren got a tour of the ranch and we took her back this morning for her own ride. As they led the horse out of the paddock, Maren cried, "Oh Mom, my own Appayoosa!" They let her groom Iceberg and she watched anxiously as the young kid put a kid's western saddle on the horse.

After Maren helped groom and saddle up Iceberg, the Cowpoke-in-charge handed David the reins and said, " Have you been around horses before?" He gave David brief directions on how to get to the trail and told us to have fun. Off we went with our very own Appayoosa, Iceberg!

Out on the trail to the open range! Every so often Maren patted Iceberg on the withers and said, "Good job, boy." She is a natural!

Howdy pardner! Now that's one happy cowgirl!

This here little cowpoke said her goodbyes to Blackjack and moseyed on home. On the way out, she picked up a handful of hay and asked if she could take some home. "I want something to remember Iceberg by." She talked about Iceberg on the drive home and how he really needs her and when we did arrive home, the hay was the first thing to get unpacked and placed in a special spot in her room.
